The new 2019-2020 flood season has begun and OPIDIN now offers weekly bulletins until the water level in Mopti has reached its peak level. Based on the information available on 6 August, OPIDIN predicts that the flood of 2019 will be probably low compared to the peak flood levels during the last 25 years.

SUMMARY MEETING No. 2019-07 of the Water Management Commission of the Sélingué Retention and the Markala Dam

On Wednesday, July 3, 2019 from 10 am and following the notice of meeting No. 00057 / DNH of July 1, 2019, was held in the meeting room of the National Directorate of Hydraulics, the seventh ordinary meeting of the Water Management Commission of the Sélingué reservoir and the Markala dam for the year 2019, under the chairmanship of Mr. Boubacar SANOGO, Head of Strategy Development and Program Monitoring Division at the National Directorate of 'Hydraulic.

Le mercredi 03 juillet 2019 à partir de 10 heures et suivant l’avis de réunion n°00057/DNH du 1er juillet 2019, s’est tenue dans la salle de réunion de la Direction Nationale de l’hydraulique, la septième réunion ordinaire de la Commission « Gestion des Eaux » de la retenue de Sélingué et du barrage de Markala au titre de l’année 2019, sous la présidence de Monsieur Boubacar SANOGO, Chef de la Division Développement des Stratégies et Suivi des Programmes à la Direction Nationale de l’Hydraulique.

In the framework of the BAMGIRE programme an workshop on OPIDIN was organised at Altenburg & Wymenga, based in The Netherlands, from 12 to 16 November 2018, targeted at the transfer of the tool to la Direction Nationale de l'Hydraulique du Mali.

As part of the BAMGIRE program, a training workshop on OPIDIN was organized in Altenburg & Wymenga, the Netherlands, from November 12 to 16, 2018, for transfer to the National Directorate of Hydraulics of Mali.

La hauteur de l'inondation est exceptionnellement élevée cette année. Le niveau d'eau à Mopti le 24 octobre était de 670 cm, son niveau le plus élevé depuis 1969. Le niveau d'eau à Mopti a encore augmenté légèrement la semaine dernière. Ce niveau est maintenant 119 cm plus élevé que le pic de l'année dernière (551 cm, atteint le 22 septembre). Sur la base des informations disponibles le 24 octobre, OPIDIN prédit un pic supérieur à 2016. On s'attend à ce que ce pic soit presque atteint, car le pic de la crue a dépassé Bamako.

The height of the flood is exceptionally high this year. The water level in Mopti on the 24th October was 670 cm, the highest level since 1969. The water level in Mopti showed still a small increase last week. The water level in Mopti is now 119 cm higher than the peak last year (551 cm, reached on 22 September). Based on the information available on 24th October, OPIDIN predicts a peak which is higher than 2016. It is expected that the peak is nearly reached now as the flood peak passed Bamako already.

The water level in Mopti showed still a small increase last week, but the peak is nearly reached. Based on the information available on 18th October, OPIDIN predicts that the flood will be even a bit higher than 2016. The water level in Mopti is now 112 cm higher than the peak last year (551 cm, reached on 22 September), and shows the same pattern as in 2016. It is expected that the flood will not rise much higher as the flood peak passed Bamako already.

Selon les informations disponibles au 09 Octobre, OPIDIN prévoit que la crue sera supérieure, et comparable à celle de 2016. Le niveau d'eau à Mopti est maintenant 97 cm plus élevé que le pic de l'année dernière (551 cm, atteint le 22 septembre), mais présente le même schéma qu'en 2016. Bien qu'à ce stade une inondation plus importante soit prévue, on s'attend à ce que l'inondation n'augmente pas beaucoup.

The water level in Mopti is now 97 cm higher than the peak last year (551 cm, reached on 22 September), and shows the same pattern as in 2016. Although at this stage even a higher flood is predicted, it is expected that the flood will not rise much higher.

Le niveau d'eau à Mopti est maintenant 92 cm plus élevé que le pic de l'année dernière (551 cm, atteint le 22 septembre), mais présente le même schéma qu'en 2016. Bien qu'à ce stade une inondation plus importante soit prévue, on s'attend à ce que l'inondation n'augmente pas beaucoup (augmentation limitée).

The water level in Mopti is now 92 cm higher than the peak last year (551 cm, reached on 22 September), and shows the same pattern as in 2016. Although at this stage even a higher flood is predicted, it is expected that the flood will not rise much higher (limited increase).

Le niveau d'eau à Mopti est maintenant 84 cm plus élevé que le pic de l'année dernière (551 cm, atteint le 22 septembre), mais présente le même schéma qu'en 2016. Bien qu'à ce stade une inondation plus importante soit prévue nous attendons à ce que l'inondation monte encore de 15 à 20 cm, comparable ou un peu moins que 2016.

Although at this stage even a higher flood is predicted, we expect the flood to rise another 15-20 cm, comparable or a bit lower than 2016.

Le niveau d'eau à Mopti est maintenant 69 cm plus élevé que le pic de l'année dernière (551 cm, atteint le 22 septembre), mais présente le même schéma qu'en 2016. Bien qu'à ce stade une inondation plus importante soit prévue nous nous attendons à ce que l'inondation soit comparable ou légèrement inférieure à celle de 2016.

Although at this stage even a higher flood is predicted, it has to be stressed that the prediction is still uncertain and depends on how long the flood will continue to rise.

Although at this stage even a higher flood is predicted, it has to be stressed that the prediction is still uncertain and depends on how long the flood will continue to rise.
