Flood forecast – Between August 1th and about October 15th OPDIN provides a forecast of the maximum height of the flood in the Inner Niger Delta for three stations: Mopti, Akka and Diré. In addition to the height of the flood also the date of the peak is forecasted for each station.
Flood viewer – In addition to the flood forecast, the spatial extent of the inundations in the delta are given for the expected maximum flood height. With the flood viewer the areas which are expected to be flooded are shown.
Deflooding – The retreat of the flood is also an important feature in the delta. OPIDIN gives a forecast when (date) the water level is dropping below 100 and 200 cm at the scale of Akka (centre of the delta). These are the water levels, below which (large parts of) the floodplains emerge.
