The flood in the Inner Delta has reached its highest point, amounting to a high of 675 cm in Mopti. This is considerably higher than last year, and just slightly higher than the recent high floods in 2018 (670 cm) and 2020 (670 cm). This brings the flood to its highest level since 1969.
With this high flood, the maximum inundation of the Inner Delta covers an area of over 19,000 km2. The flood has now reached its peak in Mopti and is expected to peak in Akka, in the central part of the delta, in the last week of November, and in Dire, in the north, over c. 10 days later.
